Blepharoplasty is an operation performed on the upper and lower eyelids in order to reduce extra skin and prominent fat that may have developed as a result of aging or hereditary factors.

Why do people get blepharoplasties?

People get blepharoplasties because they want to rejuvenate the appearance of their eyes. Very often, patients are told that they look tired all the time or they look angry, and what a blepharoplasty can achieve is it can reduce some of the extra skin that’s weighing down the upper lids or the extra skin that’s creating wrinkles and contour irregularity to the lower eyelids, and have a more open eye appearance and achieve less puffiness around the eyes.

What is the goal of blepharoplasty?

The goal of blepharoplasty is to achieve a natural rejuvenated appearing eye, one where a patient’s eye still able to close and the function as it normally would, and one that has a natural unoperated appearance. And this is achieved in a very individualized way from patient to patient.
